Written by David Mamet (The Untouchables, The Spanish Prisoner) and directed by Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator) Edmond is a tense thriller starring William H. Macy, Julia Stiles, Denise Richards and Mena Suvari.
Edmond (Macy) has a portentous encounter with a storefront fortuneteller where she warns "You are not where you belong!" Suddenly Edmond walks out on his wife and into a world of incredible danger. What follows is his mugging, a knifing, a hand of three-card monte and a series of abortive encounters with some incredibly beautiful hookers. Having given full vent to his inner racism, Edmond manages to bed down the game young neurotic (Stiles) who will point him toward the way out of misery. But Edmond has clearly reached the point of no return, mistaken as personal freedom, as he spirals on towards personal disintegration, his racism and homophobia emerges - and he freely expresses it. "Every fear hides a wish,"he discovers.
