Perhaps only a filmmaker as bold and inventive as Ken Russell would dare to make a television film from this famously controversial literary masterpiece. Drawing from "Lady Chatterley's Lover" as well as D.H. Lawrence's two lesser-known versions of the novel, Russell produced a moving love story considered perhaps too hot for television, even in the 1990's when it first aired on the BBC. Popular stars Joely Richardson and Sean Bean play the passionate lovers. In addition to directing, Russell co-authored the screenplay and appears in a minor role.
