A satirical comedy of sexual disorientation, "But I'm a Cheerleader" chronicles the life of Megan (Natasha Lyonne,) a typical teenager coming of age in anything but a typical fashion. Megan's normal suburban existence is filled with friends and rah-rah enthusiasm until her straight-laced parents (Mink Stole, Bud Cort) suspect that she may be showing lesbian tendencies. In a panic, Megan's parents elicit the guidance of the homosexual rehabilitation facility, True Directions, to mount an intervention. Megan does not believe she is a lesbian, until she meets Graham (Clea DuVall), a sexy tomboy who has also been sent to the camp. In a charming twist of romantic fate, Megan realizes she may have found her true direction in the most unlikely of places.
