Set in the world of stolen antiques and life on the edge, "Spanish Judges" opens with Jack, a ruthless con man ripping off a valuable suitcase in midst of a fierce gun battle.
Jack shows up at the apartment of Max, where he comes upon Jamie, a would-be artist and collector of exotic poisons. When he attempts to con her into believing that he is Max's brother, she knocks him out with one of her exotic, almost lethal drinks, and then proceeds to draw his portrait.
Max returns to find Jack tied to a chair and pleading for their protection and help in making a sale of the antique statues in the stolen briefcase. But, thanks to Jack, the deal goes bad and they manage to barely escape with their lives and $250,000 cash. Jack then begins playing mind-games with Max and Jamie, pitting them against each other and pushing their love/hate relationship over the edge. His real purpose is to get his hands on the "Spanish Judges", a pair of antique dueling pistols worth a million dollars.
As loyalties disintegrate, Max and Jamie realise that Jack has been setting them up all along and eventually only Jack is left with the money, the "Judges" and a false sense of security - as Jamie's portrait is left to link him to the chaos around him.
