Max (James Le Gros) meets Elizabeth (Jennifer Beals). The connection between them is instantaneous, and it becomes clear that Elizabeth is ready to get married. Max, on the other hand, wants to marry her--just not right now. Tension and hard feelings develop, and Max's co-worker Lena (Drew Barrymore), who has a mad crush on him, decides to manipulate his current problems with Elizabeth for her own advantage. And though Max is convinced Elizabeth is interested in another man, it turns out he's mistaken about the "other man's" identity.
