Review

At 5:00 a.m. on June 29, 1944, in Rillieux-la-Pape, France, seven Jews were executed by members of the Milice, a special military force created by the Vichy government to carry out orders from the Nazi occupiers. After World War II, many Milice members were prosecuted for their crimes. A few rose to power. Others, like Pierre Brossard, eluded capture and disappeared. When an ambitious Judge and a scrupulous Colonel launch a new investigation, the peaceful, anonymous existence of Brossard - now an old man - is shattered.

With the state investigators and two mysterious hit men breathing down his neck, Brossard is forced to use his wits to stay alive... and to safeguard the secret identities of his corrupt protectors.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Brian Moore, directed by the venerated Norman Jewison, and written by Oscar-winner Brian Harwood, THE STATEMENT is a surprising, shocking thriller that delves into a fascinating chapter in modern events!
