Clint Eastwood is Coogan, an Arizona sheriff's deputy who travels to New York to bring back an extradited prisoner. When the convict escapes, a wild and dangerous chase through New York ensues. Coogan must contend with the New York underworld and a bunch of unhappy NYPD officers in order to get his man.
