The most famous cartoon character in the world, Mickey Mouse, is the star of the seven Disney shorts collected in WALT DISNEY'S CLASSIC CARTOON FAVORITES STARRING MICKEY. All of the cartoons featured are from the prewar period, 1935 to 1941, when the Disney studio was maturing into the greatest animation house in the country due to its pristine, detailed, and colorful animation as well as its popular stable of characters. Two of the "ensemble" cartoons starring Disney's "Fab Five" (Mickey, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, and Goofy) are collected here: "Hawaiian Holiday" and "On Ice." Two of the shorts in this collection are historically important as well--"Mickey's Garden" was only the second Technicolor short Disney produced, and 1936's "Moving Day," released during the Great Depression with a plot that revolves around eviction, displays how readily cultural events were reflected in the studio's cartoons despite the timelessness usually attributed to them. Rounding out the collection are the other classic shorts "Mickey's Circus," "The Little Whirlwind," and Orphan's Picnic."
