John Cusack plays Ray Keene, a grieving father who has lost his wife and so sets out on a camping trip in a bid to reconnect with his young son. However, the peaceful and serene trip he hoped would bring them closer together is brought to a sudden halt when they chance across two men handcuffed together floating down the river, high-profile assassin Frank Cardin and his accompanying police officer. Ray makes a promise to the police officer to get Frank back in custody, but his task is hampered by the pursuit of Frank's loyal mercenaries.
