Having left her abusive husband years earlier, Lizzie Morrison tried to shelter her deaf son, Frankie, from the truth. Believing his dad is a world traveler by ship, Frankie writes him regularly while Lizzie answers his letters in disguise as his father. By fluke, his dad's ship is scheduled to port in their town, so Lizzie hires a stranger to act as Frankie's dad. What she doesn't expect is the bond Frankie will develop with this stranger and the feelings she finds deep within herself.
