A city girl gets shipped off to stay with her family in the Mississippi Delta by her mother in order to convalesce from her drug addiction. While there, she works alongside her grandfather at the family restaurant and learns about the trials and adventures of previous generations of her family dating back to their time in slavery before the Civil War.
