Initially part of NBCs Mystery Movie series during the 1970s, MCMILLAN AND WIFE, like COLUMBO, was considered popular enough to get its own regular program. The light-hearted police series starred Hollywood actor Rock Hudson as Stewart McMillan, a former attorney who is named commissioner of the San Francisco Police Department. He has a surprisingly hands-on approach to police work, often becoming personally involved in criminal investigations along with his deductively brilliant but flaky wife Sally (Susan Saint James). Surrounded by a group of colorful characters, including his tough housekeeper Mildred and the dim witted Sgt. Enright (John Schuck), McMillan and his wife tackle some of the toughest cases in the city. MCMILLAN AND WIFE: SEASON ONE contains the first eight episodes of the entertaining detective show.
