Sharpe's Sword (1995): The Franco-Spanish Frontier, 1813: although the French army is in retreat from Spain, Napoleon is planning a surprise counter-attack. To succeed, he must flush out and capture Wellington's master spy, El Mirador. Sharpe is sent to protect El Mirador from the French Colonel Leroux - one of the "Boney's Best" swordsmen and personally chosen by Napoleon for the job. Sharpe's Gold (1995): To drive the French out of Spain, Wellington needs every able-bodied British soldier. Some men have deserted and escaped to the hills, only to be captured, tortured or killed by the terrifying Partisan leader, El Casco. Wellington is approached by El Casco, who offers to trade deserters for fifty Baker rifles. Sharpe is ordered to make the exchange.
Complicating his mission is the arrival of Wellington's cousin, Bess, who with her daughter, Ellie, has arrived in Spain searching for her missing husband. Sharpe's Battle (1995): British officer Richard Sharpe has his work cut out for him: Wellington orders him to take charge of the Royal Irish Guard, a gift from the Spanish King Ferdinand, and make them into soldiers for their first ever battle. Sharpe must also contend with the commander of the Guard and his devoted, but neglected, wife. The French continue to fight a fierce rear-guard action while being driven from Spain; Sharpe must recover stolen supply wagons and lead his green troops into battle against a French general whose "chief weapon is horror"!
Sharpe's Regiment (1996): June 1813: after the victory at Victoria, Wellington is preparing his troops for the invasion of France. The depleted South Essex is a battalion at half strength so Wellington sends Sharpe to England to recruit new soldiers where Sharpe and the newly promoted Sergeant Major Harper discover corruption in the highest ranks of the British army.
