Real estate agent Julia (Carmen Maura) is having a difficult time selling a beautiful apartment in an old building. So she decides to spend a night in the apartment herself, but finds cockroaches and a water leak. She also discovers that the upstairs tenant has been dead for several weeks. She checks around and finds a huge cache of money hidden by the old man, who years earlier, won a lottery. She tries to leave with it, but meets with hostility from the other tenants, who've been searching for this nest egg for 20 years and don't intend to see it get away...
