In this romantic comedy with a twist, Betty is a lonely housewife who begins a love affair with Boris, the local undertaker. A divorce in their small town is too scandalous and Betty can't bring herself to do so, even though her husband is a two-timing scoundrel. So they develop a plan to be together forever - they try to fake Betty's death. But things become much more complicated when Frank Featherbed, the competing funeral director in town, vies for the job to undertake Betty himself.
