BetMGM Casino recently announced that Double-Up Blackjack is coming to New Jersey through a partnership with gaming provider Score Gaming.

New Jersey online casinos are fully packed for the holiday season, as many operators are taking advantage of the opportunity to roll out both new and old games to the booming market. Hence, through this partnership, Double-Up Blackjack will be available exclusively on the BetMGM Casino and Borgata Online in The Garden State.

A new online blackjack variant

Double-Up Blackjack has a distinctive feature from traditional blackjack, offering players a chance to double their wagers on any two hands—barring instances of a natural blackjack. This Double-Up option encourages players to augment their bets, enabling them to place additional stakes equivalent to their initial bet.

“Double-Up Blackjack offers a twist on the classic game and adds another layer of excitement for players. Double-Up Blackjack further strengthens the variety of our table game offerings that feature in-house produced titles from Entain, as well as great partners like Score Gaming,” said Vice President of Gaming Products at BetMGM, Oliver Bartlett, in TheRoar news release.

BetMGM’s Double-Up Blackjack features the End 16 Rule

Developers designed the blackjack game with a unique feature, the End 16 Rule, which ensures players cannot incur a loss if the dealer’s hand adds up to 16 while playing. Merrill Sparago, MD, founder and president of Score Gaming, added:

“Score Gaming shares in BetMGM’s excitement and looks forward to collaborating with BetMGM to bring a consistent stream of new End 16 content to the online space.”

The online blackjack game features 16 bonus side bets, providing players with an optional wager that offers enticing rewards. This particular bet comes into play when the dealer’s hand reaches a total of 16.

The payout is determined by the number of cards needed to achieve this sum, presenting players with the opportunity to win substantial prizes, potentially reaching up to 500 times their initial bet. This unique side bet adds an extra layer of excitement and strategy to the gameplay, enhancing the overall gaming experience.

In 2012, Double-Up Blackjack made its debut into retail casinos, earning widespread acclaim. Fast forward to today, and the blackjack variant has become a staple, with more than a third of casinos featuring multiple Double-Up Blackjack games on their gaming floors.

This also serves as the first time that Score Gaming’s End 16 game suite is online.

BetMGM capitalizes on New Jersey online casino market

Since the start of this year, BetMGM has steadily introduced new online games in New Jersey through its BetMGM Casino. In a recent development, the company entered into a partnership with Relax Gaming to offer their award-winning online slots.

Also this December, BetMGM launched the first NHL-endorsed online slots game in New Jersey.

For the coming year, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt revealed that the company will be exploring the Las Vegas gambling scene. It is also currently working with Nevada gaming regulators to launch a new app in Las Vegas in 2024.
