The former Isle of Capri Lake Charles in southwest Louisiana will officially come ashore in a brand-new, land-based casino venue as part of the Horseshoe rebrand.

Horseshoe Lake Charles Casino and Resort will open its doors on Dec. 12, 2022, pending approval from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

Anthony Carano, President and COO of Caesars Entertainment said:

“When we closed the Isle of Capri in 2020, we were not expecting the property to be shut down for this length of time. But we couldn’t be prouder of our team and all of the hard work they’ve put into this beautiful property. We look forward to welcoming our partners and the community to celebrate with us as we commemorate this milestone and introduce them to Horseshoe Lake Charles.”

The Lake Charles location closed in August 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and damage caused by Hurricane Laura.

What will the Horseshoe Lake Charles include?

The all-new 60,000-square-foot property will bring Caesars‘ Horseshoe brand to southwest Louisiana, showcasing the gambling experience for guests.

The land-based casino promises to feature new rooms, unmatched restaurants and a variety of entertainment. In particular, the new property boasts:

  • Nearly 1,000 slot machines and table games
  • An official World Series of Poker Room
  • Brand-new Caesars Sportsbook
  • 253 hotel rooms designed with inspiration from local scenery

In addition to a wide range of food and beverage outlets available on day one, Horseshoe Lake Charles will bring multi-Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay to the Pelican State with the opening of Gordon Ramsay Steak in mid-2023.

The big opening of Caesars’ new Horseshoe property

The doors to Horseshoe Lake Charles will open at noon on Dec. 12, provided it gets regulatory approval.

The ceremony will begin with the property’s official ribbon cutting, continuing through the day and ending with a firework display in the evening.

Jeff Favre, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Horseshoe Lake Charles said:

“The support from the Lake Charles community has been tremendous, and we can’t wait to welcome our guests back to experience our all-new resort. After being closed for more than two years, to reopen as a Horseshoe casino is the cherry on top of a pretty spectacular celebration.”

Caesars’ new property will also host special opening events over New Year’s Eve weekend. Guests can expect the first-ever drone show in the Lake Charles market, a lion dance celebration and exclusive giveaways.

Caesars Entertainment’s Horseshoe properties have been around since 1951, with ten locations across the country, including Horseshoe Bossier City.

Caesars’ latest development

In partnership with SL Green Realty, Caesars plans to apply for a license to redevelop 1515 Broadway as a premiere entertainment and gaming destination in the heart of New York City’s Times Square.

The companies are in the process of pursuing licensing, hoping that the new resort will increase the local economy. It should also allow guests to enjoy Broadway shows, retail stores, local restaurants and comedy clubs while staying at Caesars Palace Times Square.
