Delaware online casino revenue showed steady growth year-on-year in April, but lagged behind March’s record numbers, according to the latest data from the Delaware Lottery.

In April, the state’s three online casinos generated $1.29 million in revenue, the fourth-highest total in state history.  And while revenue was down 9.3% from March, it was up 5.5% from April 2022.

Delaware Park was the only casino posting online gains in April 2023

Overall, Delaware online casinos generated $39.5 million in handle (money bet) across table online table games and slots. Here’s how the numbers looked on a casino-by-casino basis:

Table Games HandleSlots HandleTotal HandleTable Games and Slots Revenue
Delaware Park$11,118,514.60$9,630,173.77$20,748,688.37$444,955.39
Bally's Dover Casino Resort$2,887,785.67$7,758,936.82$10,646,722.49$457,240.20
Harrington Casino & Raceway$1,350,617.28$6,732,377.90$8,082,995.18$391,509.86
Total$15,356,917.55$24,121,488.49$39,478,406.04$1,293,705.45

Delaware Park was the only casino to post a monthly online casino gain, beating out its March total by around $1,500. Bally’s Dover saw the biggest decline, dropping nearly $100,000 from March. Meanwhile, Harrington saw a roughly $36,000 decline in revenue month-on-month.

Delaware online casino revenue is trending upward

April’s drop in online gaming revenue was somewhat expected. Casinos, whether online or land-based, tend to see more handle come in during March because of March Madness. Multiple online casino states saw a big boost in handle in March, including Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

But, despite the dip from March to April, the Delaware online gambling market is doing well. Two of the state’s four highest monthly revenue totals have come in the past two months.

Additionally, this is the first year in the Blue Hen state’s history that online casino revenue has topped $1 million in the first four months of the year, according to the April 2023 report by the Deleware Lottery.

What’s ahead for Delaware online gambling revenue

The growth should continue this year. It’s highly likely 2023 will become the first in the state’s history to post at least $1 million in iGaming revenue in all 12 months. Historically speaking, the only two months that would jeopardize that streak is February, which tends to be the slowest month of the year.

However, Delaware’s three online casinos eclipsed $1 million in revenue in February 2023. That is a good omen for the rest of the year.

The only other month this year that could remotely jeopardize the $1 million streak is November. Last year, November revenue barely dipped under $1 million. But, considering the year-on-year growth we’re seeing in 2023, Delaware’s online casinos should easily surpass the $1 million revenue mark in November.
