Road to Louisiana mobile sports betting
In November 2020, Louisiana voted to legalize sports betting in 55 of 64 parishes. The following year, Gov. John Bel Edwards signed a pair of sports betting bills allowing the industry to launch in Louisiana in the fall of 2021.
On Oct. 6, the Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, owned and operated by the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe, opened its retail sportsbook and took the first legal bets in the state. The tribe partnered with United Kingdom-based BetFred Sports. Since then, a number of Louisiana casinos have opened retail sportsbooks.
