Fanatics Betting and Gaming, the digital arm of Fanatics Holdings, announced it closed on the first eight states following its acquisition of sports betting operator PointsBet USA.

As a result, Fanatics will have a presence in 11 states once the 2023 NFL betting season begins.

PointsBet shareholders approved the $225 million sale of its US segments to Fanatics in June. With the acquisition, Fanatics became a premier online gaming operator with access to key market states.

Fanatics closed on 8 states for sports betting under PointsBet USA

Following regulatory approval, Fanatics will offer online sports betting in the following states (in addition to the three previous states):

  1. Colorado
  2. Iowa
  3. Kansas
  4. Maryland
  5. New Jersey
  6. Pennsylvania
  7. Virginia
  8. West Virginia

In a news release, Matt King, CEO of Fanatics Betting and Gaming, said they are:

“Excited about what we are building at Fanatics Betting and Gaming and this acquisition accelerates our plans. We have a 10-year plan that focuses on the customer and not market share.

We are going to acquire customers efficiently, allowing us to return savings to customers by investing in the customer experience at Fanatics Sportsbook and PointsBet, a Fanatics Experience.”

According to a press release, customers in each of the before-mentioned states will see PointsBet rebrand to “PointsBet, a Fanatics Experience.”

The company is currently working with state regulators in Indiana and Illinois, hoping to obtain regulatory approval to rebrand later this year.

Fanatics is looking at growth and diversification

In addition to sports betting, Fanatics gains control of PointsBet’s online casino platform, which is available in four states.

One of the unique experiences awaiting customers is the Fanatics cash-back awards program. Cash-back offers can be used for promo bets or to purchase merchandise on the Fanatics website.

Fanatics rewards include:

  • 5% back for same-game parlays
  • 3% back for parlays and futures
  • 1% back for straight bets
  • 0.5% back on slots
  • 0.13% back on table games

For now, PointsBet will continue to operate in the following states until Fanatics can close on select states individually:

  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Louisiana
  • Michigan
  • New York
  • Ohio
