The annual World Series of Poker in Las Vegas might be a headliner event each year, but there are hidden gems in Sin City that veterans know about. Among them is the annual Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series.
The Golden Nugget Las Vegas Casino is bringing the tournament back for another year with a recent schedule announcement. Over $3 million in guarantees are on the line across more than 80 separate events for 2022.
2022 Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series starts next month
Before May ends, the Golden Nugget will begin this series. On May 31, the series opens to players. The action runs through July 3 this year, with 81 events on the calendar. The full schedule boasts a mix of different ways to play.
All but six of the events are one-day affairs. The exceptions to that rule are the following:
- No-Limit Hold’em $250K Guarantee, June 2-5
- No-Limit Hold’em $250K Guarantee Ultimate Re-Entry, June 9-12
- Bar Poker Open Championship, June 13-16
- Mystery Bounty No-Limit Hold’em $250K Guarantee, June 17-20
- No-Limit Hold’em $1,000,000 Guarantee, June 24-28
- Championship No-Limit Hold’em $500K Guarantee, June 30-July 3
This schedule represents a return to the normal accommodations for the tournament. Last year, the casino moved the event to a fall timeline due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, the casino canceled the event altogether for the same reason.
That applies not only in terms of the schedule but protocols at the event as well. Players do not need to provide proof of vaccination to enter any games. Additionally, players can decide for themselves whether to wear face masks while playing.
However, the scale is still smaller for 2022, as previous iterations offered over 100 different events. The guarantees for prizes and the buy-ins are mostly identical to former editions, though.
Las Vegas guarantees and buy-ins for 2022
Throughout the weeks of the event, there are options for every bankroll. Buy-ins for 2022 start at $125 and max out at $1,100. In fact, none of the first 53 events of the series have buy-ins over $300.
That doesn’t mean the potential prizes are paltry. Many of the events with the lowest buy-in offer a guarantee of $5,000. As you would expect, chasing the largest prizes demands a bigger buy-in.
As many have said, though, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Again in 2022, the Golden Nugget Las Vegas gives poker players a chance to do both the venturing and the gaining.
