Pennsylvania online casino players are about to get an additional gaming option.
During its most recent board meeting, Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) unanimously gave final license approval for Golden Nugget Online Casino. Once the online casino launches, it will offer players online slots and table games.
Finalizing licensing details was the operator’s last regulatory obstacle. Now the launch is anticipated to happen in a few weeks.
Doug Harbach, PA Gaming Control Board director of communications, confirmed the news to PlayUSA saying:
“Golden Nugget gained final license approval on Wednesday [July 26] and will be able to move forward with live testing sometime next month.”
Golden Nugget’s ambition to enter Pennsylvania started in 2021
During its board meeting on June 28, the PGCB designated Golden Nugget Casino as an out-of-state operator. As the board said last month, it would only have to finalize licensing details, which occurred on July 28.
Golden Nugget’s ambition to enter Pennsylvania online gambling started two years ago. The operator received the Qualified Gaming Entity (QGE) status in March 2021, with two certificates — for online slots and table games. The recent board approval provided that online license. Bally Casino holds the other QGE license in Pennsylvania, where it fully launched on June 8 after a soft launch.
The QGE status was the best solution for the casino to enter the Keystone State and offer online gambling. The other way for an operator to receive a license in Pennsylvania was to partner with a competing casino or operate a land-based casino, which Golden Nugget had no interest in.

Operated by Golden Nugget Online Gaming LLC, Golden Nugget online casino is available in Michigan, New Jersey and West Virginia.
