Betr Signs Caesars Deal For Indiana Sports Betting Launch

Betr is on the move.

The microbetting platform that YouTube star Jake Paul promotes is nearing a launch in the Indiana sports betting market. This week, the company announced a deal with Caesars Southern Indiana and EBCI Holdings. EBCI is the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians’ gaming entity.

“We are thrilled to be working with Caesars Southern Indiana and EBCI Holdings to bring Betr to the Hoosier state,” Betr CEO Joey Levy said in a statement. “[We’ve] been focused on aligning ourselves with partners who buy into our vision and are willing to take equity in lieu of cash for access. We are thrilled to announce this partnership and we are grateful for the opportunity to undergo the licensing process with the Indiana Gaming Commission.”

The deal is their second this year. In August, Betr became Hall of Fame Resorts & Entertainment Company’s official online sports betting partner.

Caesars likes Betr’s microbetting angle

Caesars Southern Indiana General Manager Brad Seigal praised Betr’s novel approach to sports betting. Rather than focusing on the usual prop bets you’ll find with sportsbooks, Betr offers thousands of different in-game events.

For example, users could place a bet on how many strikes are thrown in one at-bat during the World Series. Or, bettors could wager on individual plays in an NFL game. The company notes that the start-and-stop nature of most US sports supports the microbetting approach.

“Our partnership with Betr will deliver a fresh, dynamic new way of betting to thousands of sports fans in our area,” Seigel said. “We believe Betr will be a fun new option for sports fans throughout Indiana and will appeal to mass market consumers.”

Betr is bullish on its approach

Betr launched in September 2022 as a free-to-play platform, at which time its head of product, Alex Ursa, said the company believes it’s not a sportsbook—it’s something more. And that certainly was the tenor of the company’s first statement. It said microbetting is an approachable way for casual sports fans to get into sports betting.

The company went as far as to say it believes microbetting “will ultimately emerge as the predominant way consumers bet on US sports.”

Betr is also banking on its social capital. Paul will spearhead a media campaign intended to generate revenue for Betr. Highlighting that campaign is BS w/Jake Paul, a podcast that features episodes with athlete influencers and Paul’s celebrity friends. The company says BS w/Jake Paul is the first of multiple franchises.

“Micro-betting is the TikTok-ification of sports betting and I am excited to bring it to the masses through Betr,” Paul said when the company announced $50 million in Series A funding this summer. “We are in this for the long haul and are focused on doing things the right way.”
