Written By Marc Meltzer on March 23, 2022

MGM Resorts is following up its new loyalty program with a new MGM Rewards credit card. As an incentive to sign up for the new MGM Rewards Mastercard, the company is offering a signup bonus of 25,000 MGM Rewards Points until April 7, 2022.

The new MGM Rewards credit card can be used for spending on anything anywhere Mastercard card is accepted. Since the credit card is linked with the MGM Rewards loyalty account, the points earned from the credit card can be redeemed as payment for items such as hotel rooms, dining and entertainment. Gamblers can also use the points for Slot Dollars to use in an MGM Resorts casino.

Casino branded credit cards aren’t useful for everyone. However, this branded credit card offers points that can be useful for anyone looking to take vacations to Las Vegas or other MGM Resorts properties around the country.

MGM Rewards points can be used at the following properties in Las Vegas:

  • Aria (and Vdara)
  • Bellagio
  • Excalibur
  • Luxor
  • MGM Grand (and The Signature)
  • Mandalay Bay (and Delano)
  • The Mirage
  • New York-New York
  • Park MGM (and NoMad)

MGM Rewards points can be used at the following casinos around the rest of the country:

  • Beau Rivage (Mississippi)
  • Borgata (New Jersey)
  • Gold Strike Tunica (Mississippi)
  • MGM Grand Detroit (Michigan)
  • The MGM National Harbor (Maryland)
  • MGM Springfield (Massachusettes)

MGM Rewards Credit Card bonus

The MGM Rewards credit card is offering a huge signup bonus. Anyone who applies and is accepted to use the new Mastercard before April 2, 2022, will receive 25,000 MGM Rewards Points.

The MGM Rewards bonus points work out to have a value of $250 in points. MGM Rewards members can use the points at MGM Resorts properties for dining, hotel rooms, entertainment and other expenses at a property.

There’s a requirement to receive this signup bonus. New card members will have to spend $5,000 in the first six billing cycles to receive the 25,000 Reward Point bonus. MGM Rewards will add the bonus points to an account after the user reaches this benchmark.

The $250 bonus works out to be a 5% return for the $5,000 required spend.

Earning more MGM Rewards with the credit card

The MGM Rewards credit card offers loyalty rewards for every dollar spent. Most spending is rewarded with one Reward Point and Tier Credit per dollar spent. There are ways to earn even more points when using the MGM Rewards credit card.

Like other casino branded credit cards, users will receive the most points and tier credits by using the credit card at MGM Resorts casinos. Here’s a breakdown of the points and credits rewarded per dollar spent using the MGM Rewards Card.

  • 3X points and tier credits per $1 spent at MGM Rewards properties.
  • 2X points and tier credits per $1 spent on gas station and supermarket purchases.
  • 1X points and tier credits per $1 spent everywhere else.

The MGM Rewards credit card does not have a foreign transaction or annual fee. The APR and other fees can be found at the website of the credit card provider.

MGM Rewards Pearl upgrade benefits

Similar to the previous incarnation of this credit card, MGM Rewards loyalty club members will receive an upgrade to the Pearl tier.

One of the main benefits of the Peal tier of MGM Rewards is free self-parking at MGM properties. This is a value of $15 or $18 per day depending on the property for non-hotel guests. Self-parking is complimentary for hotel guests at MGM Resorts properties.

Pearl level MGM Rewards members receive a 10% discount at participating retail shops. These members also receive a 10% bonus on slot dollars when gambling. Both are increases from the entry-level Sapphire tier and will increase as members reach higher levels.

Using the MGM Rewards credit card also allows users to a benefit that isn’t available to loyalty club members until they reach the Gold tier level. The MGM Rewards credit card allows guests to gain access to priority hotel check-in at any MGM Rewards property. This is especially handy for those who don’t check into hotels using the mobile app.

Pearl status also allows MGM Rewards members to match tiers with its national hotel partner Hyatt. MGM Rewards members with Pearl status can match with the Discoverist level of the World of Hyatt rewards program.
