FireKeepers Casino history and current owners

FireKeepers Casino was a $300 million project by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, which came to fruition in 2009 after a decade of careful planning. Gaming Entertainment Michigan (GEM) first managed the casino, but the tribe took control in May 2012, four years earlier than previously agreed upon.

In 2011, the casino announced a major renovation that added a 243-room resort-style hotel to the premises. The hotel opened its doors to the public on December 12, 2012, alongside a multi-purpose event center.

Over the next five years, FireKeepers Casino and Hotel added several new restaurants, such as Café 24/7 and Dacey’s Taphouse, which has been home to FireKeepers Sportsbook, opened in 2020.

In 2021, FireKeepers Casino Hotel added an online casino and sports betting app to its gaming offer for players across Michigan.
