Toronto Raptors Turn 2019 NBA Finals Odds Upside Down

Updated on:

The Toronto Raptors have taken complete command of the 2019 NBA Finals after winning two games in Oakland to grab a 3-1 series lead over the Golden State Warriors.

Most sportsbooks across the eight states where sports betting is now legal had the two-time defending champion Warriors as favorites from the start. Now, the Raptors have turned the 2019 NBA Finals odds around completely and are heavy favorites to win the best-of-seven series.

After splitting the first two games in Toronto, the Raptors won both games on the Warriors home floor last week. Now, the Raptors will head into Monday’s Game 5 in Toronto with a chance to close out the two-time defending champs.

Updated 2019 NBA Finals odds

Below is a look at the 2019 NBA Finals odds at four of the top sportsbooks in the country headed into Monday’s Game 5. This includes PA sports betting with the newly launched PlaySugarHouse Pennsylvania sports betting app and NJ sports betting operators FanDuel Sportsbook and PointsBet.

Golden State Warriors+425 [-315]+400 [-330]+375+400
Toronto Raptors-590 [+250]-530 [+270]-500-556

As you can see, the Warriors are now big underdogs to win a third straight title.

In fact, the odds on the Warriors to win have grown so large, bettors who backed the Raptors early can now guarantee themselves a profit by hedging their bets.

In other words, they can now bet on the Warriors at these big odds and make money whether Golden State erases the 3-1 deficit or Toronto finishes them off.

The series is now shifting back to Toronto. Plus, the Warriors have failed to do much outside of a big third-quarter run in Game 2. As a result, the Raptors are also clear favorites to win Game 5.

If the Warriors can win Game 5, the teams will return to Oakland for Game 6 on Wednesday, June 13. Then, if the Warriors can win again in Game 6 to force a Game 7, the series finale will be played in Toronto on Sunday, June 16.

New NBA Finals MVP odds

Warriors two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant has sat out through the series first four games. The team upgraded his status to questionable for Game 5 over the weekend and are hopeful he can return to action.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry was the moneyline favorite to win the 2019 NBA Finals MVP award at the start of the series.

Curry has played well in a losing effort. However, Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard is averaging an incredible 30.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Plus, he is winning. As a result, Leonard has emerged as the favorite to walk away with 2019 NBA Finals MVP honors.

Here’s how the updated NBA Finals MVP odds looked on Monday morning at FanDuel and PointsBet heading into Game 5:
