The men’s 2022 NCAA D1 national championship tournament begins tonight and in anticipation of the onset of March Madness this year, playing wisely is of paramount concern. That’s why the Delaware North responsible gambling campaign has upped its game around sports betting.
Delaware North is now participating in the American Gaming Association‘s messaging around safe wagering on sporting events at a pertinent time. With the company’s reach, more gamblers should become aware of how to bet responsibly.
Delaware North responsible gambling campaign shifts focus
The AGA’s Have a Game Plan. Bet Responsibly. campaign is all about informing gamblers on best practices. Delaware North is now adding the program to its own responsible gambling communications.
“Responsibility is not only core to Delaware North’s commitment to our customers but essential to the sustainable growth of legal sports betting,” said Delaware North Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Jack McNeill in a press release.
“We’re proud to work with the AGA on this important initiative to educate fans on responsible gambling.”
With this inclusion, Have a Game Plan will reach Delaware North customers in a large swath of the country. Delaware North operates casinos in eight states. It also offers online sports betting in Arkansas and West Virginia through its Betly platform.
It’s just the latest amplifier of the AGA’s messaging, joining more than 20 similar partners. The highlights of the campaign that started in 2019 for bettors are:
- Keeping the betting social
- Knowing the odds
- Playing with regulated operators only
- Setting a budget and sticking to it
This is timely because March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month. Also, wagering on March Madness this year creates an unprecedented need for such awareness.
March Madness 2022 to draw record-breaking action
While just two D1 teams will ultimately cut down championship nets this year, the next few weeks could be championship-worthy for sportsbooks like Betly. The AGA expects bettors to put down over $3 billion on the men’s and women’s tournaments in 2022.
How much actual revenue books will clear from that money remains to be seen. There is an unprecedented opportunity to bet on the tourneys, for sure. Bettors in markets like Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, and New York have more legal options now than they have in previous years.
Furthermore, this year, books will also have new markets available for live wagering. With that comes more responsibility for getting tools for safe gambling into players’ hands, and Delaware North isn’t abdicating that responsibility.
