As Michigan Online Casinos Set New Record, WSOP Announces Online Circuit Schedule

Michigan online casinos and online poker set new revenue records for March. The WSOP announced it’s MI online circuit begins on April 20.

For the third time in four months, online casino revenue in Michigan breaks another record.

In March, Michigan’s online casino revenue eclipsed $130 million for the first time, according to data from Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB).

Michigan online gaming sector is proving itself worthy

Online casinos and Michigan online poker rooms reached $131.7 million in revenue, shattering the $122.8 million record in February. 

BetMGM led all online casino and poker operators with $47.9 million in gross gaming revenue, translating to $12.6 million in state and local taxes.

FanDuel online casino came in second, generating $22.5 million in gross receipts, producing $5.9 million in tax revenue.

As a whole, online casinos generated $4.2 million in revenue per day in March, down slightly from the record $4.4 million per generated in February.

Since launching in 2021, Michigan online gaming has generated $368.9 million in taxes and fees.

What about Michigan online sports betting?

March Madness also helped online sports betting produce eye-catching numbers. 

For the month, online sportsbooks attracted $451.6 million in online bets, up 13.4% from the $398.4 million wagered in February.

In addition to the $26.4 million in retail wagering at Detroit casinos, Michigan’s online and retail sportsbooks combined to take in $478.0 million in bets, up 12.8% from $423.8 million in February. 

World Series of Poker Online Circuit in Michigan

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) announced the first online circuit series in Michigan, allowing players to win the highly coveted WSOP gold ring. Players can compete from the comforter of their homes by using the WSOP MI app

The series begins on April 20 with a ring event each day. Buy-ins will be higher than usual, ranging from $109 to $1,000. But, $500,000 and 12 WSOP gold rings will be up for grabs. 

The first event will be a $109 buy-in NLH PKO event with a $20,000 guarantee. The final event of the series will be on May 1 and feature a $525 buy-in Main Event with a $100,000 prize. 

Although No-Limit Hold ’em will be featured several times, Pot-Limit Omaha will take place for those experienced four-card players.

The rest of the poker series will feature different formats, including:

  • $215 buy-in Freeze event (no rebuys)
  • $1,000 buy-in High Roller event
  • Progressive Knockouts
  • Deep Turbo event
  • BIG 500 event (April 28 with a $50,000 guarantee)

This summer, the Michigan WSOP will hold its main event in the 2022 WSOP Las Vegas live series, where the winner will be awarded the WSOP gold bracelet.
