Sportradar’s subsidiary, Sportradar Solutions, received a sports gaming supplier license from the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC). The news comes ahead of Buckeye State’s sports betting market launch.

The Ohio sports betting market for retail and online gambling is scheduled to launch on Jan. 1, 2023. It’s now becoming more of a reality since Governor Mike DeWine signed the legislation to legalize sports betting last December.

Sportradar is ready for Ohio sports betting launch

Sportradar will expand its commitment to the US market once gambling in Ohio goes live. Last month, the company posted a 61% year-over-year revenue growth in Q3, achieving first-time profitability in the region.

Including Ohio, Sportradar now holds 41 licenses. It is present in North America across several US states, territories, tribes and Canada.

Operating within these jurisdictions, the B2B global sports betting company provides services to an array of clients. It advances transparency and integrity, “delivering accurate sports data to sanctioned sports betting and gaming agencies.”

More precisely, Sportsradar is an official partner of various leagues and federations, including:

  • NBA
  • NHL
  • MLB
  • NASCAR
  • UEFA
  • FIFA
  • ICC
  • ITF

The company also covers over 890,000 events per year across 92 sports. Sportradar handles up to 30 million odds changes per minute, including 40 languages, with 99.9% proven accuracy.

Ohio sports betting launches just in time for NFL games

Ohio sports teams have conditionally been approved by the OCCC for either:

  1. An online sportsbook (Type A)
  2. And/or a retail sports betting (Type B) license

Ohio sports teams approved for sportsbook licenses include:

  • The Cincinnati Bengals
  • Cleveland Browns
  • FC Cincinnati
  • Cleveland Guardians
  • Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Cleveland Cavaliers

The Buckeye State’s sports betting market will launch just in time for the NFL games. The first of which is the Browns at Washington Commanders on Jan. 1.

The next game is the Buffalo Bills and the Bengals on Jan. 2. And the 2023 Rose Bowl and the CFB National Championship game are scheduled for Jan. 9.

GeoComply license necessary for Ohio sportsbooks

All interested sportsbook operators had to submit their plans to the OCCC to receive approval by Nov. 2. The OCCC issued ten other operator licenses and four supplier licenses.

The commission also awarded a conditional license to GeoComply.

Ohio gambling operators providing KYC services in Ohio must obtain a supplier license. As such, GeoComply’s Ohio conditional suppliers license covers its IDComply product and geolocation services.
