In an announcement days ahead of the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar BetMGM sportsbook named legendary goalkeeper Tim Howard as brand ambassador. Howard’s signing leads the launch of a series of new US gambling opportunities focused on the World Cup.
In 2014, Tim Howard rose to superhero status when his uncanny knack for making clutch saves propelled the US Men’s National Team to the World Cup quarterfinals. He was the face of the team that year. Eight years and two World Cups later, Howard has come up clutch again.
BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said in a statement about the Howard signing:
“Tim Howard’s performances on the pitch thrilled a generation of US soccer fans. With Tim’s support, we will bring a similar level of excitement to our customers through various games and interactive opportunities.”
New BetMGM promos include a $250,000 World Cup bracket
The partnership between the former goalkeeper and BetMGM will result in varied new games and offers:
- $250,000 Bracket: Bettors signed for a World Cup bracket with a top prize of $250,000 for anyone who picks a perfect bracket. If there is no 100%-correct bracket, the bettor with the most accurate bracket will win $50,000.
- New customer offers: Anyone who signs up for BetMGM’s app during the World Cup will get up to a $1,000 promo bet. Additionally, a new user who bets $10 on their first World Cup match gets $200 in bets if someone scores a goal in the match.
- Existing customer offers: Bettors who already have the BetMGM app get a variety of perks, including daily odds boosts and promo wagers on certain parlays.
Howard featured in US gambling free daily game
In addition to the offers noted above, Howard will have his own branded in-app game called “Tim Howard’s Shootout Challenge.” It’s a daily free game in which players try to score a goal against Howard.
Anyone who can sneak a shot past the world-class keeper will win a prize that includes $100 in promo bets.
Additionally, BetMGM notes that Howard will do meet-and-greets with BetMGM users at public and private events. Some of the events will be in-person, while others are online.
Also, Howard will appear in BetMGM social media promotions and represent the brand on radio and TV shows. Howard said:
