What is the newest online casino in New Jersey?

In March 2023, NJ welcomed the highly-anticipated launch of Wheel of Fortune Online Casino. Operated by BetMGM, one of the most popular casino games of all-time will now become the first brand-led online casino in the US.

Wheel of Fortune Online Casino is the product of a partnership between top developer IGT and electronics mogul Sony. It is the latest new release into the NJ online casino market: In 2022, PlayStar Casino debuted a website and mobile apps for a collection of more than 100 video slots.

The biggest of the new online casinos in NJ was Bally Casino. The Bally Casino unveil last January was marked with great excitement. Licensed under the Bally’s Atlantic City name, Bally Casino has an expansive games catalog with over 200 slots, live dealer games, table games and much more.

The PlayUp Sportsbook is already live in New Jersey and Colorado, with launches expected in Iowa, Indiana and Ohio in the coming months. Meanwhile, the PlayUp Racebook is up and running in two dozen states. The operator is also slowly moving toward online casino approval, although the exact launch date is currently unknown.

A document letter released by the DGE on Aug. 3, 2022, shows that PlayUp can’t go live at this time as it has only been approved for part of the Online Market Access Agreement. The delay is likely caused by internal legal battles between current PlayUp leadership and the former US chief executive Laila Mintas.

PlayOJO and its parent company SkillOnNet partnered with Caesars Entertainment back in 2021 hoping to launch an online casino in New Jersey and later expand to other gambling-friendly states. However, the launch is yet to happen, and the operator has since shifted its focus toward Canada, going live in Ontario in 2022.

PlayOJO is an award-winning online casino and bingo platform launched in 2017 and currently operating in the UK, Canada, Spain, Mexico and Chile. It features more than 1,000 games from premium studios such as Evolution, Microgaming, NetEnt, IGT, Pragmatic, Playn GO and many others.

The long-expected LeoVegas launch in New Jersey came to a screeching halt after it was announced that the operator withdrew from its NJ market access deal on Dec. 6, 2022. LeoVegas previously had a partnership with Caesars Entertainment, which is now terminated. In the meantime, MGM Resorts International completed the purchase of LeoVegas.

This means it’s very likely LeoVegas will debut under a license from the MGM-operated Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. However, LeoVegas will not be allowed to apply for a new DGE license within a year after withdrawing from its original application. This means we won’t see it receive a new license until at least Dec. 6, 2023.

LeoVegas is a Swedish online casino and sports betting company founded in 2011, focusing primarily on European markets. The casino features over 3,500 slot games, with more than 60 progressive jackpot slot titles and a few dozen live dealer games, including exclusive live dealer games run from the specialized LeoVegas studio.

Tropicana Online Casino will technically not be a new operator in the NJ market, as it’s simply going through a software change. Namely, Tropicana is no longer using the Gamesys platform and will launch a new website and app using Light & Wonder software (previously known as Scientific Games).

Currently, the old Tropicana Online Casino URL redirects players to Caesars Casino. The rebranding was to take place last summer, but it still hasn’t been completed and will likely take effect in 2023.

Wheel of Fortune

  • Licensing status: Pending
  • Launch date: Unclear

The iconic TV game show and now well-known live casino game will likely become one of the newest online casino brands to hit New Jersey in the upcoming year. Wheel of Fortune Casino is the product of a deal struck by BetMGM, Sony Pictures and IGT and will operate under Borgata’s license. Little is known about what the casino will offer or its launch date.

Benefits of joining a new online casino in NJ

New Jersey players already have plenty of online casino choices, so why would they choose to bet with a new operator? Here are a few reasons for signing up at a new NJ online casino:

  • Never-before-seen games — One way to get ahead of the competition is to offer products that are not available through other operators. New casinos know this and will try adding unique games and exclusive real money slot titles to their libraries.
  • Bigger and better bonuses — New NJ online casinos for real money want to make a good impression, so they’ll offer lucrative deals to new customers, including pre-launch bonuses. This is also an opportunity to grab a new NJ casino sign-up bonus if you’ve already used up all the welcome bonuses on other NJ casino sites.
  • New and improved software — Better functioning websites and apps propelled by new software technologies are among the best attributes of new online casinos.
  • Quick payment processing — Players dislike when they have to wait for their winnings longer than necessary, so offering a faster way to withdraw is a must for new online casinos in NJ trying to remain competitive.
  • Responsive player support — Another way to make a good impression with new players is to be responsive and helpful when things go south.
