For three straight months, Massachusetts casino gross gaming revenue fell. However, that streak came to an end in October.

The state’s three casinos amassed $96.7 million in revenue this past month, up 6.95% over September, according to newly released data from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. On the sports betting side, revenue was up 21.6% over October and hit $60 million for only the second time this year.

Overall casino revenue (land-based gambling plus online sports betting) totaled $155.8 million, up nearly $16 million compared to September.

Encore Boston Harbor’s revenue jumped over $200M in October

The only thing that stood in the way of Massachusetts casinos tallying a fourth-straight month of revenue losses was Encore Boston Harbor.

The flagship casino’s revenue jumped nearly $220 million from September to October, tempering a more than $120 million loss at MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park’s solid $84 million revenue gain couldn’t negate.

While the monthly growth that Massachusetts casinos saw in October is a positive sign, the month’s numbers were relatively low compared to the rest of the year. Casino revenue in October was the second-lowest total since January.

That said, last month’s month-on-month increase was the biggest of the year, percentage-wise.
