Now FanDuel is taking its technology and experience across the river to Pennsylvania with partner Valley Forge Casino.
Since gambling was legalized, the new FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino will be the sixth sportsbook to join PA sports betting.
Considering that FanDuel is partnered with European giant Paddy Power Betfair, and Valley Forge is owned and operated by Boyd Gaming — the owners of more than 30 casinos across the country — this new venture is sure to be among the most impressive in the industry.
Registering for a new FanDuel Sportsbook account
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) requires a physical sportsbook to open before its operator expands its offerings to online and mobile access.
When the new 1,800-square foot sportsbook opens its doors, it will be the first place for gamblers to sign up for a new account.
When mobile access becomes available later in 2019, registration for a new account should be quick and easy.
New customers will only need to provide their name, date of birth, email address, phone number, physical address and Social Security number. This information is needed to confirm the player’s identity and location.
Next, the player will need to select a username and password, and then receive the option to turn on two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security.
The only time a government-issued identification may be required is if the new account shows suspicious activity.
At that point, the Valley Forge/FanDuel security team will need to confirm the user’s identification and ownership of any credit cards or bank accounts attached to the account. The process should be straightforward and geared toward protecting the customer from any fraudulent activity.
FanDuel PA Sportsbook bonus offer and details
As aforementioned, Valley Forge is the sixth Pennsylvania casino to file for a sportsbook license. In a competitive market where most businesses are newcomers, incentives to draw in new players can be enough to tip the scales in favor of one operator over another.
The sign-up bonuses that will be made available by FanDuel at Valley Forge are unknown, but in New Jersey, the company offers a risk-free initial bet of up to $500.
This promo means that if a player loses his or her initial bet, he or she is credited back the full bet amount up to a total of $500.
This promotion differs from a cash bonus in that a player is ineligible to withdraw the credit until he or she has wagered it a second time. However, regardless of what happens with that initial wager with FanDuel, the player’s balance does not go down.
Payback bonuses are returned to a player’s account within 72 hours and may be subject to tax withholdings, depending on the amount. Once they are wagered a second time, they are eligible for withdrawal.
While the new player bonus described above hasn’t been announced for Valley Forge, we expect something similar to be made available.

Other potential player promotions at FanDuel Sportsbook
FanDuel’s history tells us that it likes to offer promotions and that its customers enjoy those promotions, specifically the plentiful “insurance” bonuses.
Players can receive “NBA Overtime Heartbreak Insurance,” which pays back up to $25 on wagers that lose in overtime.
For NFL wagers, players can claim “Halftime Insurance,” which pays back up to $25 on wagers that were winning at halftime but ultimately lost.
Football and basketball parlays of four or more legs also get parlay insurance. If the player hits all of the parlay legs except one, he or she receives up to $25 back.
FanDuel also offers posted daily odds boosts, which are special wagers that change from day to day and enhance the odds for a half-dozen or so bets, increasing the potential payouts.
We expect similar offerings when the FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge opens its doors and releases its app.
Possible FanDuel Sportsbook loyalty program features
The third and final way to bring players in and keep them coming back is through a customer loyalty program.
FanDuel’s current point-based Players Club features automatic enrollment. The more points a player earns, the more bonus wagers he or she receives.
One top feature of the Players Club is that as long as a player places one wager in 12 months, all of those points roll over to the next 12 months.
Valley Forge Casino offers its customers membership in the point-based Valley Club. Enrollment results in a free $25 slot play. Perks of the Valley Club include birthday bonuses, discounts on food and drink, airline miles and room upgrades at the casino and hotel.
When the new Valley Forge/FanDuel partnership starts taking bets, the new loyalty program is likely to be a combination of the best features of the two companies’ current offerings.
Making deposits at FanDuel Sportsbook
When making deposits into a new FanDuel Sportsbook account, online bill pay is the most straightforward method. An online banking ID and password allows players to move funds without providing a bank account number, further securing the account.
Credit cards, debit cards, direct bank transfers and PayPal are also fast and easy ways to move the funds electronically.
Pennsylvania is also home to hundreds of PayNearMe locations where players can make cash deposits to their Valley Forge accounts.
Making withdrawals at FanDuel Sportsbook
To withdraw money, players must reverse the process for PayPal, credit card payments or bank deposits. In the case of deposits made using PayNearMe or any method not listed above, Valley Forge will likely send a check in the mail, incurring processing delays.
Available FanDuel Sportsbook wagers
The FanDuel experience is set up to appeal to the veteran sports gambler and the novice alike.
The website features an entire page dedicated to sports betting training. This page takes a new player through the various bets on offer — straight bets, props, teasers, parlays, round-robins and futures – and explains how they work.
New players can also learn everything they need to know about point spreads, money lines and more.
FanDuel’s sports offering is plentiful and includes everything from darts and cricket, through boxing and tennis. It also includes the greatest gambling month of them all: March Madness.
FanDuel Sportsbook in-play wagering
In-play wagers are bets on events already in progress; Valley Forge and FanDuel should offer them.
This highly popular means of wagering gives players the opportunity to play several games within a single game. Options include multiple halftime totals and second-chance multipliers. Gamblers can also pay their way out of bets as well as place new wagers, all within the same event.
As mentioned, a Valley Forge/FanDuel mobile app will be released once the brick-and-mortar sportsbook is operational.
Considering FanDuel’s DFS experience and the sportsbook in New Jersey, players should expect an exceptional user experience.
Available for both Android or iOS, the New Jersey app is most notable for how it resembles the online sportsbook.
The homepage comes with shortcuts that take the user to the sport of their choice, be NFL, NBA, college football or baseball.
There are also three tabs that link to different tables of contests: “Popular,” “Live” and “Upcoming.”
A player can easily bet with the crowd, see what else is currently happening or place a wager on a future event.
Pennsylvania users should also be able to completely manage their accounts through the app: from registration, through making deposits and withdrawals to placing wagers.
The majority of sportsbook bets in New Jersey have come by way of mobile apps. Knowing this and wanting to capitalize on it, FanDuel’s app in Pennsylvania is sure to offer everything its customers want and need.
