Where To Bet On The Super Bowl In Mississippi

Mississippi enjoys a long history with gambling and riverboats to this day. As such, it is perhaps no surprise that the Magnolia State is home to 23 retail sportsbooks. So, Super Bowl bettors have a wealth of options to choose where to place their wagers.

Just to recap, the 2019 Super Bowl will kick off the evening of Feb. 3 in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. This year, the contest will feature the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams, the latter of which is still drawing heat for its controversial NFC Championship win over the New Orleans Saints.

Mobile Super Bowl betting in Mississippi

Unfortunately, using a mobile device to wager on the Super Bowl in Mississippi is mostly impossible for now. As currently written, Mississippi’s sports betting law includes no provision for online sports betting throughout the state, but that could change.

However, the law does allow operators to offer an app to patrons if they are physically onsite at the casino. Though it is likely too late to make the Super Bowl, the Pearl River Resort, Mississippi’s lone tribal casino area, plans to offer this sort of application to visitors very soon.

Nevertheless, the tribe does have a sportsbook onsite. So, there are actually 24 active sportsbooks in Mississippi, including the book operated by DraftKings that opened inside Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort.

With so many books, it is best to consider them in geographic sections. Mississippi’s casinos are mostly clustered in one of three locations: northern, coastal and central.

The northern casinos are mostly clustered around Tunica, Mississippi. The coastal properties are centered in Biloxi, Mississippi. The central locations are usually near Vicksburg or Jackson.

  • 1st Jackpot Casino Tunica
  • Fitzgerald’s Casino – Tunica
  • Gold Strike Casino Resort
  • Hollywood Casino – Tunica
  • Horseshoe Casino and Hotel
  • Sam’s Town – Tunica

  • Boomtown Casino – Biloxi
  • Golden Nugget Bilox
  • Hard Rock Casino – Biloxi
  • Harrah’s Gulf Coast
  • Hollywood Casino Bay St. Louis

So, as it turns out, Mississippi’s residents may not be terribly inconvenienced or negatively affected by the lack of mobile sports betting options. Geographically, there are very few locations in the state that are much more than an hour from a sportsbook.

However, some folks who live in the Magnolia State might have some extra motivation to put money down on this game, no matter the distance. After all, the closest NFL team to them is the Saints.

We can probably guess which team they want to win.
