Colorado Grande Casino history and current owners

In 1991, Colorado allowed limited gaming in Cripple Creek, a former gold-mining camp with a turbulent history. Colorado Grande Casino opened on Oct. 11, 1991, in the historic Fairley Bros. & Lampman Building built in 1896.

The building had many purposes throughout its history, including serving as a law and engineering office, millinery, mortuary, and hotel. The ballroom on the third floor was even used as a Masonic Temple for a while.

In 2002, IGT, the original owner of Colorado Grande Casino & Hotel, sold the venue to Isle of Capri Blackhawk. In 2005, this company was fully acquired by Nevada Gold, which was previously its partner.

The casino changed hands again in 2012 when Nevada Gold sold it to G Investments LLC, headed by David Minter.
