Imagine turning 20 cents into more than $1 million.
That’s exactly what happened recently when two gamblers won a combined $1.12 million in progressive jackpot wins on West Virginia’s DraftKings Casino via 10-cent bets. The wins came via DraftKings Jackpots, a network of games that feed into one giant progressive jackpot.

A novel approach to progressive jackpots led to big wins
This past October, DraftKings expanded its progressive jackpots to include multiple types of games. In general, progressives tend to stay within a game genre. For example, slot machines usually feed into a progressive jackpot built up by other slot machines.
However, DraftKings linked its online casino progressive jackpot to more than 90 games, including slots, blackjack, and roulette.
With so many games feeding into one jackpot, the jackpot balance grows quicker, giving West Virginia online casino customers a chance to win big money from small bets.
And that’s what transpired earlier this month. One bettor took home a $670,063.50 jackpot with a 10-cent bet on 5 Treasures. The other big winner won a $453,031.65 progressive jackpot with a 10-cent bet on Ultra Blazing Gire Link.
DraftKings progressive pots available in multiple states
DraftKings Casino offers its network of progressive Jackpots games in five states:
- Connecticut
- Michigan
- New Jersey
- Pennsylvania
- West Virginia
As of this month, the biggest progressive jackpot balance on record came in New Jersey, when the progressive pot surged to $2.4 million and beyond.
That record came less than a month after a bettor in New Jersey won a $1.97 million progressive jackpot playing a 10-cent bet on Extra Chilli Megaways. At the time, it was the biggest DraftKings online casino jackpot since the company launched cross-genre progressives in late 2022.
Cross-genre progressives are part of an overall online gambling strategy that seems to be working. In DraftKings’ Q1 2023 shareholders letter, the company estimated its online casino sites had the largest gross gaming revenue share in the country in Q1, representing 26% of the market.
