The Westgate SuperContest and Golden Nugget Ultimate Football Challenge opened registration when the calendar flipped to July. The two football contests have been around longer but follow the Circa Millions and Circa Survivor in allowing contestants to register this year.

The Westgate SuperContest is the granddaddy of them all. Since it was the first pro football handicapping contest, it helped pave the way for others.

Competition between the three casinos offering football contests in Nevada has resulted in better offerings for participants. Players now have larger prizes, the contests no longer have administration fees, and there is a greater variety in the type of football contests.

These contests are only available in Nevada regardless of the states that offer sports betting from these operators. Having said that, anyone can participate by registering in person and paying a proxy service in Nevada to place picks weekly.

What is the Westgate SuperContest?

The Westgate SuperContest is a traditional pro football handicapping contest. Players make five (5) weekly selections based on a static point spread. The entry fee is $1,000 per contest. Players may have up to seven (7) SuperContest entries.

Registration is open until Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. SuperContest begins with point spreads opening on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. The contest will conclude on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

This year, SuperContest is awarding numerous prizes throughout the NFL season. This year there will be in-season cash prizes to the contestants that accumulate the most points during the time frame for these periods:

  • Three six-week contests
  • Six three-week contests
  • Two nine-week contests

For the in-season contests prizes range from $5,000 to $75,000. The remaining entry fees will be paid to season-long winners.

There’s no administration fee and all money entered is returned to the winners. Participants should be aware that Westgate gives away a number of contest entries. The number of participants does not commensurate with the prize pool like the other Nevada football contests.

Additionally, Westgate offers a high roller pro football handicapping contest available. The $5,000 per entry SuperContest Gold pays 100% of the entry fees to the winner(s).

Details about the Golden Nugget Ultimate Football Challenge

The Golden Nugget Ultimate Football Challenge is different from the others. This football contest allows players to make selections from both pro and college football games every week.

Registration is open and ends on Sept. 5, at 10 p.m. The entry fee for the Ultimate Football contest is $1,000. Players may have up to three (3) entries.

Point spreads for the pro and college football games will be released every Wednesday of the season at 2 p.m. It’s important to note that selections must be placed by Friday of the same week at 10 p.m. since college football games are involved. The pro-football-only contests allow contest submissions until Saturday.

This is a comparatively small contest compared to the Westgate and Circa offerings. Golden Nugget expects around 200 contest entries this year. The prizes available will be smaller than the other football contests but fewer participants could make this easier to finish in the money.

  • The first-place winner will receive 40% of all entry fees
  • Second place will receive 20% of the prize pool
  • Third place will receive 10% of the prize money available

The remaining prize pool will be split among the remaining top 20 finishers. The 11-20 place finishers will each win $1,000.
