State of Play
- Two 20-year-old men fled a police stop on Interstate 395 but were later found playing blackjack at Mohegan Sun Casino.
- They face multiple felony gun charges after an illegal firearm was found in their vehicle.
Last week, Damari L. Barker and Jeremiah A. Young were driving a 2018 Mercedes Benz E300 at 84 mph on I-395 near the Montville and Waterford border. When a state trooper attempted to stop them, the vehicle sped up to over 115 mph before police ended the chase but noted the license plate number.
Police tracked the car to a parking garage at Mohegan Sun Casino, where the two men were found playing blackjack.
Both men were arrested without incident. A search of their car revealed a Glock model 22 with its serial numbers scratched off and a large-capacity magazine loaded with 17 rounds.
Men held on $50K bonds
Both men face numerous felony charges including illegal gun possession and carrying a weapon without a permit. Young is also charged with reckless driving and fleeing from police.
Both Barker and Young were arraigned and held on $50,000 bond.
They already have pending charges from other agencies and are barred from possessing firearms due to protective orders.
