The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is back again this summer and, with new management and an expanded schedule, is expected to be better than ever. This week, WSOP released the full schedule for the tournament series, which features an even 100 numbered events, with buy-ins ranging from $300 to $100,000.
Registering for all 100 events would cost just under $1.1 million, but due to overlap, even the game’s biggest high rollers aren’t going to attempt that.
Not only are there more Gold Bracelets available than ever before, but there are also more poker players flocking to test their skills against other greats. This is going to make the chances of Jonathan Tamayo repeating as Main Event winner extremely slim, but it should also make for one of the most exciting World Series of Poker schedules ever.
Below, you’ll find some detailed information on changes, new events and overall schedule for the 56th edition of the World Series of Poker. Or you can just see the full schedule below.
If you dream of playing in the WSOP but don’t have it in your budget to make the trip, online qualifier satellites are available on WSOP.com, which you can access in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, and Ontario.
The 2025 World Series of Poker is expected to be the biggest in history
All of the stops are being brought out to make the 2025 World Series of Poker the biggest in the 56 year history of the event.
For the first time ever, the number of gold bracelets available to play for will reach triple digits with 100 available to be won. Additionally, the number of players is expected to break records as well. In 2024, the number of players eclipsed 10,000 with 10,112 buying into one of the World Series of Poker events. That number should only grow in 2025.
The Chief Executive Officer of the World Series of Poker, Ty Stewart, knows of these trends and he is preparing for an even bigger turnout this year. In a press release, Stewart said:
We had hoped to continue to break records last year, and we did – the WSOP Main Event was bigger than ever. In 2025, the WSOP schedule is better again, with something for everyone who loves the game. There’s nothing like summer in Las Vegas and we’re ready to welcome players to the biggest and best WSOP of all time!
To compliment the growing number of players and gold bracelets, there are also some new events that were added to the schedule as well by the new owner of the World Series of Poker, GGPoker.
With new ownership comes new events for the 2025 World Series of Poker
There will be 100 different events for the 56th World Series of Poker spread across 50 days of action: from May 27 to July 16. Of those 100 events, six of them are new events that were added because the new owners in GGPoker hope will increase its popularity even more.
There will be a new $100k Pot Limit Omaha tournament as well as a $25k Pot Limit Omaha/No-Limit Hold ‘Em tournament. Additionally, the tournament formally known as Casino Employees event has been rebranded as the Industry Employees event to better encapsulate those who are allowed to enter.
One of the more interesting new tournaments for the 56th World Series of Poker is the Battle of the Ages. The plan for the tournament is to pin players of different age groups against each other to see which will emerge victorious. The start of the tournament will see players who are 50 years old or younger playing against one another while players who are older than 50 years old will battle it out. After the first flight, the two groups will form into one for the second flight and eventually a winner will be crowned.
The other new events include a new main event sideshow known as the $800 Summer Celebration, a new $3,000 T.O.R.S.E. event, $1,500 PLO Double Board Bomb Pot and the $5,000 Super Turbo Bounty.
But even as exciting as it is to have these new events, the real draw is always the World Series of Poker Main Event which will take place from July 2nd to July 16th.
Who will follow Jonathan Tamayo as the main event winner in 2025?
Last year, the World Series of Poker Main Event winner was Jonathan Tamayo who took home the $10 million prize. But with Main Event becoming more and more popular with each passing year, the competition has never been tougher.
In the series’ 56-year run, there have been four repeat Main Event winners. However, the most recent of these, the late Stu Ungar, won his third and final Main Event in 1997. Attendance that year was a mere 312 players, compared to last year’s five-figure field. Even for the game’s most skilled players, poker involves a substantial luck component, so the odds of another repeat performance dwindle with each passing year.
Because of how wide open the field could be this year, GGPoker Global Ambassador and seven-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu is encouraging anyone to try and mimic the success of their poker heroes.
GGPoker’s Road To Vegas allows poker enthusiasts all over the world to make their way to Las Vegas and follow in the footsteps of their poker heroes by taking aim at WSOP gold. Join us in 2025!
