Turning $2 into $3 million isn’t magic; it’s BetMGM online gambling.
This week, the gaming giant announced a New Jersey online casino customer won $3 million in October with a $2 bet placed on Bison Fury, a slots title available on the BetMGM online casino app.
BetMGM noted that the winner’s post-jackpot plans include “early retirement, fun, and travel which hopefully includes a trip to Las Vegas for the first time.”
October was a big month for BetMGM online casino big wins
The $3 million jackpot was one of three online slots wins of at least $700,000 across BetMGM’s online casinos in three states:
- New Jersey: $3 million won from Bison Fury on a $2 bet
- Michigan: $1.2 million on MGM Grand Millions on a $5 bet
- West Virginia: $740,000 won on Bison Fury on a $2 bet
Bison Fury and MGM Grand Millions are progressive games. Progressive means a central jackpot connected to multiple games grows each time someone spins and loses.
Progressive slots lead to bigger jackpots since many machines/games feed into them.
If big wins like the three we saw in October persist, BetMGM predicts this year it will break its 2022 record of paying out $100 million in jackpots.
New Jersey millionaire represents new era of gaming
The big win aside, what makes New Jersey’s $3-million-dollar gambler so interesting is that the winner has been a regular at the company’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City for 20 years.
BetMGM Vice President of Gaming Angus Nisbet said in a TheRoar press release about the jackpot:
“BetMGM congratulates the recent players at Borgata Online and BetMGM on their big jackpot wins. In-house games like Bison Fury and MGM Grand Millions are a key differentiator at our award-winning online casino. We work tirelessly to create games like these that delight players.”
Twenty years ago, New Jersey bettors had to go to an illegal bookie to place a sports bet. And online casinos might as well have been TikTok at the time.
Now, Jersey bettors can play online slots in person, on their phones, or through their computers. Sports betting is ubiquitous.
And, more importantly, online casinos and mobile sports betting generate far more revenue for gaming operators than their retail counterparts. Gaming brands like BetMGM have realized that in-person gaming is a small piece of the puzzle.
And while the casinos still hold their place in the gaming hierarchy, they remain an almost sentimental player in the few states where online casinos and online sports betting are legal.
