BetMGM wants an extra dime from Michigan online casino players on every spin, hand or roll.
For a shot at a jackpot pool that starts at $500,000 and only grows from there.
The operator launched BetMGM Jackpots this week, an optional progressive SideBet now live on more than 200 casino games in Michigan. Opt in, place a fixed $0.10 wager alongside a qualifying bet, and that dime buys a shot at one of four progressive tiers.
The starting jackpots:
- Mini: $100
- Minor: $6,000
- Major: $30,000
- Mega: $500,000
The Mega jackpot already sits above $618,000, and it climbs every time another player opts in somewhere in the network.
BetMGM Online Casino plans to bring the feature to additional markets through the summer and fall, subject to regulatory approval state by state. For now, Michigan is the only place it is live.

Is this actually new?
Not really.
FanDuel Casino built the identical structure well over a year earlier. Mini, Minor, Major and Mega jackpots, unlocked with an optional $0.10 wager, launched there in April 2025. FanDuel has since added a $0.20 tier that doubles a player’s odds and expanded the feature to Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The company says its version has paid out more than $300 million across roughly 450,000 jackpots since it went live.
BetMGM was not exactly starting from zero, either. The operator already runs one of the larger state-by-state progressive jackpot networks in the country, with more than 25 games, including MGM Grand Millions, Bison Fury and 15 Lanterns, and it paid out more than $122 million from those jackpots in 2025 alone.
SideBet Jackpots is a new wrapper on an idea BetMGM already had running.
As Oliver Bartlett, BetMGM’s vice president of gaming, said in the release announcing the launch:
“iGaming continues to be the growth engine of our business, fueled by product innovation and differentiated player experiences. SideBet Jackpots expands the ways players can engage with our casino offering while creating additional opportunities to win across a growing network of games.”
What it means for Michigan online casino players
The SideBet is opt-in only, and it has no bearing on the outcome of the underlying game. You can switch it on or off from the BetMGM Casino homepage, in promotion settings or inside eligible online casino games themselves.
Every dime is on top of the regular wager, not in place of it. That is the trade being offered: pay a little more per spin for a chance most of those spins will never pay off. Track participating games, jackpot values and recent winners inside the BetMGM Jackpots interface, and check mi.betmgm.com for full terms and the current list of eligible titles.
BetMGM tucked its usual GameSense messaging into the release too, the responsible gambling program it licenses from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. Worth remembering with any feature built around an extra optional wager. Bet with your head, not over it. Call 1-800-GAMBLER if it stops feeling optional.
