FanDuel Group and GeoComply have renewed their long-standing partnership with a new multi-year agreement that expands the use of identity verification, fraud prevention and other compliance technology across FanDuel’s product portfolio.
The companies announced the agreement Aug. 17, extending a relationship that dates back 13 years. GeoComply’s technology has supported FanDuel as it expanded from its first regulated market to a platform serving approximately 17 million customers.
New deal broadens GeoComply’s role at FanDuel
Under the renewed agreement, FanDuel will continue using GeoComply’s identity verification and fraud prevention technology to help verify customer eligibility, streamline registration, strengthen compliance safeguards and identify fraudulent activity.
The expanded partnership will incorporate location and device intelligence, behavioral data and real-time fraud detection. GeoComply said it will assign dedicated engineers to work directly with FanDuel’s product and operations teams, creating a closer connection between its technology and FanDuel’s platform.
“GeoComply has been an important partner as we’ve built a platform our customers can trust,” FanDuel President Christian Genetski said. “Our focus has always been on delivering a great customer experience while operating with the highest standards of integrity and compliance.”
GeoComply CEO Kip Levin said the companies have built on their original geolocation relationship to develop additional capabilities involving fraud and abuse detection, authentication and market insights.
Partnership supports FanDuel’s growing platform
The agreement covers FanDuel’s broader product portfolio as the company continues to expand beyond its traditional online sportsbook and daily fantasy sports offerings.
FanDuel’s current portfolio includes its sportsbook, real-money online casino, horse racing, daily fantasy sports and FanDuel Predicts products.
GeoComply’s technology is particularly important for products that operate under jurisdiction-specific requirements. FanDuel says it uses GeoComply to verify that customers are located in jurisdictions where its products are legally available, while its broader identity-verification process helps confirm customers’ identities and ages.
GeoComply said it has processed billions of player checks for FanDuel, with a 99.7% pass rate and 99.999% service availability during periods that included major sporting events and multistate launches.
The renewed agreement comes ahead of the 2026 football season, when FanDuel and other legal gaming operators typically prepare for increased customer activity.
For FanDuel, the expanded partnership gives the company continued access to geolocation, identity and fraud-prevention technology while adding dedicated technical support as its product portfolio grows. For GeoComply, the agreement extends a relationship that has developed alongside FanDuel’s expansion in regulated gaming markets.
FanDuel VIP program faces congressional scrutiny
FanDuel’s expanded partnership with GeoComply comes as the sportsbook faces congressional scrutiny over its VIP program. On Aug. 10, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and US Reps. Paul Tonko, D-N.Y., and Valerie Foushee, D-N.C., called on FanDuel to end its VIP program for bettors, particularly those experiencing gambling problems.
The lawmakers’ inquiry followed reports involving FanDuel customer Terry Thompson, who they said wagered $18.5 million and lost more than $1.5 million while dealing with gambling-related problems. They also questioned FanDuel’s use of Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper in a personalized Thanksgiving video sent to Thompson.
The lawmakers said Harper was unaware of Thompson’s circumstances when he recorded the message and also called on Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association to strengthen rules governing athletes’ involvement in VIP promotions.
FanDuel’s VIP practices remain separate from its renewed GeoComply agreement, which expands the operator’s use of identity verification, fraud prevention and behavioral intelligence technology.
