Anyone who listened to sports radio in New York in the latter decades of the 20th century knows Mike Francesca. That awareness is exactly what Rush Street Gaming hopes to take advantage of.

Francesca is now a brand ambassador for Rush Street Interactive. The deal puts Francesca back behind the camera and the mic. This way, a new generation of sports fans might become familiar with him.

Mike Francesca joins Rush Street talent roster

According to a press release, Francesca will provide exclusive network and social media content for both BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse sportsbooks. That will include:

  • A bi-weekly podcast
  • A digital video series
  • In-person appearances at Rivers Casino locations and sporting events

“I’m eager to begin a partnership with RSI,” Francesca said. “Joining the BetRivers team will allow me to share my passion for sports in a variety of new ways while at the same time providing valuable sports betting advice to fans in New York and in BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse markets throughout the country.”

Rush Street shares his sentiment.

“We are thrilled to have Mike Francesa, the radio ‘King of New York’, join our BetRivers family of Brand Ambassadors,” said Richard Schwartz, CEO of Rush Street Interactive, “He is an icon in sports radio.  We know our players will love his passionate personality and knowledge of sports which will make their betting experience on our platforms that much greater.”

Francesca instantly brings recognition to the content he will make for Rush Street.

Mike Francesca’s career accolades span decades

Francesca became a member of the Radio Hall of Fame in 2018, but that was well after he made a name for himself. He worked in the New York City area for more than 30 years.

Francesca split his radio career between “Mike and the Mad Dog” and “Mike’s On,” his later program. In 2012, he became the only sportscaster to ever win the Marconi Award for “Major Market Personality of the Year” multiple times.

In addition, he spent years working on television as a studio analyst for CBS Sports. If he can replicate some of that success for Rush Street, the gambling company could recoup its investment in him quickly.
