A Florida woman turned a $4 slot machine wager into a life-changing jackpot after winning $1,025,716 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City during Fourth of July weekend.
The anonymous player hit the wide-area progressive jackpot shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 5, while playing the “Wizard of Oz – I’ll Get You My Pretty” slot machine by Light & Wonder, according to reports from Shore Local Newsmagazine and 97.3 ESPN South Jersey.
The winning slot machine features the Wicked Witch of the West from the 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz” and operates with a 10-cent denomination. According to news by PlayNJ, the player chose to remain anonymous, and Hard Rock Atlantic City only confirmed that she was visiting from Florida.
How wide-area progressive jackpots work
The winning spin required just a $4 wager, making the seven-figure payout another example of how progressive slot jackpots can produce significant prizes from relatively small bets.
