The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA) announced Wednesday it has partnered with BetBlocker, a company that has developed bet-blocking software designed to expand the responsible gaming tools available to bettors.
BetBlocker founder Duncan Garvie said the company is “delighted” to work with ROGA.
“This collaboration will help tens of thousands of people take meaningful steps to manage their relationship with gambling, regardless of where or how they play,” Garvie said in a statement.
“By working with ROGA and its member operators, we’re removing barriers to support and making it easier for people to access the tools they need—freely, anonymously, and on their own terms.”
BetBlocker Is Turning Technology Into a Safer Gambling Experience
Partnerships like ROGA’s agreement with BetBlocker take responsible gaming measures beyond what is typically required by states. BetBlocker’s software allows users of real money casinos, for example, to block betting across thousands of online gambling sites and apps for a set period.
In that sense, BetBlocker’s software is similar to state-level self-exclusion lists, which allow gamblers to ban themselves from online gambling for a certain number of years — or indefinitely. However, BetBlocker offers a feature that self-exclusion programs often do not: scheduling.
The software allows users to “plan ahead and schedule restrictions for the time that they anticipate needing them,” the ROGA statement noted. For example, bettors who struggle to resist in-game wagering can schedule blocks during NFL games, March Madness, or other events.
ROGA: 8 Operators Shaping America’s Online Gambling Landscape
ROGA‘s membership includes many of the biggest names in online gaming:
- Bally’s Corp. — online casino in three states, online sportsbook in 11 states
- bet365 — online casino in two states, online sportsbooks in 14 states
- BetMGM — online casino in six states, online sportsbook in 21 states
- DraftKings — online casino in five states, online sportsbook in 25 states

The eight members make up 90% of the U.S. online gaming industry, ROGA says, making the partnership significant because it can reach so many bettors.
“Making resources like BetBlocker more visible and accessible is one way we put that mission into action. We’re equipping individuals with practical tools that support their decisions and well-being,” ROGA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Shatley said.
Rolling Out Responsible Gaming, One Phase at a Time
ROGA plans to implement its partnership with BetBlocker in two phases. First, it will “prominently feature” BetBlocker’s software on its website.
Second, ROGA will work with its eight members to determine how to make the software available directly to their users.
