Gretzky Light the Lamp gameplay
While the theme and atmosphere of the game are exemplary, what about the gameplay?
Gretzky Light the Lamp is a 25-line, 5×3 slot that includes free spins and wild re-spins.
Wilds appear randomly across the reels. When this happens, you’ll get your winnings along with a free re-spin with fixed Wilds. The Wilds look like blazing hockey pucks with the Spinberry logo on them.
Then there are the free spins. If you hit three, four, or five of them, you’ll get 10, 20, or 75 respins, respectively. The Wild re-spin feature is also triggered with each free spin.
Aside from the Free Spins, the game’s other bonus round is Spectacular Link, which triggers if you get four or more money denominations or “pot” symbols on the reels. (The latter look like the Stanley Cup, but Spinberry can’t call them that for trademark reasons.)
Spectactular Link is a typical hold-and-spin game with a 7×5 grid, in which you’ll keep respinning to collect more money symbols until you go three spins without finding any more. At that point, you’ll win the total amount you’ve collected.
This style of bonus feature is always tense when the grid is close to full and collecting more symbols becomes difficult. However, Light the Lamp kicks things up a notch further by adding between one and three “Upgrade” spaces to the grid. Successfully landing a money symbol on top of one of these can fill more spaces with identical money symbols, or remove low-value symbols from the reels to guarantee bigger prizes on susequent spins.
