Originally scheduled to close on June 3, 888Casino and 888Poker apps in New Jersey pushed the closing date to June 17. NJ online casino and poker players had an extra two weeks to place bets on 888 sites before the apps officially shut down.
The New Jersey online casino market has welcomed a new 888 platform, Evoke, known as Poker 8. In February, Evoke shared it sold its US B2C operations to Hard Rock Digital. The company also has a presence in multiple European markets and Canada.
The expected exit of 888 from the US gambling space follows numerous strategic moves, and a review of the company’s operations. The 888Casino website currently states:
“888Casino is shutting down in New Jersey on June 17, and partnering with Hard Rock Bet. Deposits will be disabled 30 days prior to closure. Please contact support with any questions or concerns. Go to Hardrock.bet / casino to sign up today”
Evoke announced upgrade of its Poker 8 platform to WSOP.com players
Formerly 888 Holdings (LSE: 888), Evoke has officially announced an advancement of its Poker 8 platform to WSOP.com players in New Jersey and Nevada.
This launch will allow players in these states to take advantage of the same experience that players in Michigan are already exposed to. The improved Poker 8 platform combines player pools in Michigan, Nevada and New Jersey.
Last month, Jeffrey Haas, chief growth officer at Evoke, commented in a press release:
“With a relentless focus on customer experience, our poker proposition has continually evolved and pushed the boundaries for online poker players globally for more than two decades.
The latest poker platform upgrade in America will deliver superior gameplay experiences for players in Michigan, New Jersey and Nevada.
We look forward to working with our partners at the World Series of Poker to leverage this technology to substantially enrich their customers’ online poker experience. Poker is a game of liquidity and network effects, and our Poker 8 upgrade will be a catalyst for expansion.”
Evoke emphasized that the upgraded software offers excellent graphics, smoother gameplay on desktops, laptops, and mobile phones, quick load times, and better overall functionality.
The upgrade also features a Player Account Management (PAM) system integrated with the functionality of Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
US online casino partners can now use Evoke’s products, which include more than 175 casino games, from its in-house studio, Section 8. Players can enjoy features like Progressive Knockouts and Mystery Bounties and engage in Texas Hold’em, Omaha cash games, and tournament tables.
The NJ online casino market remains competitive
New Jersey online casino players still have many options. No other iGaming state has been offering casino games longer than New Jersey, and no other state has as many online casino apps available.
The NJ online casino space features dozens of iGaming and online poker platforms, including BetMGM Poker, Partypoker, and WSOP.com.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement recently revealed May 2024 revenue numbers showing a positive trend. NJ online casinos posted May 2024 revenue numbers exceeding $192 million, a 19% year-over-year increase and a 2.2% monthly rise.
