One of the latest operators to enter the Pennsylvania gambling scene, Golden Nugget Online Casino, proved to be very successful in its first 10 days.

The Golden Nugget Online Casino app went live in August as the 20th platform in Pennsylvania. The casino is powered by DraftKings and includes more than 500 slot and table games.

Although Golden Nugget contributed to the state’s August revenue success with just 10 days of being live, we’ll get a clearer picture this week when Pennsylvania regulators release September numbers. Especially because September will be the first month to show Golden Nugget’s operation during an entire month.

Golden Nugget shows solid slot revenue in its first month in PA

Despite operating for less than two weeks of the month, Golden Nugget generated a staggering $2.04 million in online slots revenue in August. The operator finished right behind Bally’s ($2.2 million), but surpassed Wind Creek (with a little less of $2 million) and Unibet Casino ($1.4 million) in slot revenue, according to the August report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

Furthermore, here’s how much Golden Nugget generated from slots in August:

  • Total bets received: $50.99 million
  • Gross revenue: $542,645
  • State tax (34%): $184,499

One of the reasons for this success is that Golden Nugget has the most extensive slot inventory for players to choose from. However, the operator did not perform well in the table games during August and lost $351,097.

Regarding revenue totals, August was very successful for Pennsylvania online casinos, which helped the state’s gambling industry report a strong month in general. In particular, overall online slot revenue ($1.41 billion) increased 31% compared to last year ($1.08 billion).

Golden Nugget Casino has been well-prepared to enter Pennsylvania

Golden Nugget gained final license approval from the PGCB on July 26 as an out-of-state operator since it had no interest in partnering with PA land-based casinos.

However, Golden Nugget’s desire to enter PA online casino market started more than two years ago. The operator received the Qualified Gaming Entity (QGE) status in March 2021, alongside certificates to offer online slots and table games.

Pennsylvania was Golden Nugget’s fourth online casino state. Golden Nugget also has online casino apps available in:

  • Michigan
  • New Jersey
  • West Virginia

Golden Nugget Online Gaming was also the first operator to feature live dealer games and live casino floors across the US casinos.

Golden Nugget also offers sports betting options to players in Arizona, Michigan, New Jersey and West Virginia.
