The proliferation of live dealer games for Michigan online casino players continues with a third option in the market. While live dealer games are nothing new to such players, it’s uncharted territory for the company offering their third option.
After receiving approval from the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), Light & Wonder launched its Authentic Gaming-branded live dealer games for players on two Michigan online casino apps. The variety means more players should have access to this popular genre of games.
Light & Wonder growing Michigan presence
Light & Wonder has been busy expanding its footprint for online casino players in Michigan. Mere days ago, the company added its Playzido-branded online slots for players in Michigan. It’s all about getting a bigger share of the robust market in Michigan for online casino games.
August Michigan online casino revenue topped $152.2 million. It was the sixth consecutive month in which such revenue came to at least $150 million in the state. Michigan’s status as one of the top three markets for legal online casino games in the United States is a significant motivator for companies like Light & Wonder to invest in the market.
The recent launch of Authentic Gaming in the state is a big development for Light & Wonder in that vein.
Michigan marks first for Authentic Gaming
The MGCB announced on Thursday that it had given Authentic Gaming its authorization to start offering its games to players. According to the MGCB release, Authentic Gaming is broadcasting from a studio in Farmington Hills.
At this time, players can find Authentic Gaming options on BetRivers Casino and Golden Nugget Online Casino in Michigan. It’s unclear whether Light & Wonder will make Authentic Gaming titles available to other operators at this time.
Authentic Gaming offers live dealer versions of baccarat, blackjack, roulette and other table games. Live dealer games have been available on Michigan online casino apps from Evolution and Playtech since July 2021.
With Authentic Gaming’s entry, Michigan players now have a third option. However, this is the first foray into a North American market for Authentic Gaming. The Malta-based company has vast experience in offering casino content in Europe.
The company’s expansion into North America became obvious in November 2021 when Light & Wonder (then Scientific Games) acquired Authentic Gaming. At that time, the acquisition represented Light & Wonder’s first play for a live dealer offering.
While Light & Wonder might eventually expand its Authentic Games into other markets like New Jersey or Pennsylvania, Michigan will always be where it all started. Players in the state can now get started sampling the games, too.
