The full group of Ohio sportsbooks is nearly complete. BetMGM received approval on its sports betting license application from the Ohio Casino Control Commission on Wednesday morning, marking one of the final steps necessary for the sportsbook to launch its app in the state.

While it’s uncertain when BetMGM will take its app live in Ohio currently, it should only be a matter of time now that it has the requisite license. An early registration bonus should accompany that launch.

BetMGM Sportsbook Ohio set to expand MGM’s business in the state

MGM already had an interest in Ohio, operating the MGM Northfield Park “racino.” That property not only offers betting on live and simulcast harness races but slot machines as well. Beginning on Jan. 1, 2023, visitors will also be able to bet on sports at the property.

BetMGM Sportsbook diversifies MGM’s interests to include online sports betting in Ohio as well. MGM is a co-owner of BetMGM. Through the app, users will be able to convert their sports bets into credits for their MGM Rewards accounts.

With the program, bettors can use Rewards Points and Tier Credits to enjoy perks like promotional gaming at Northfield Park or comped dining and hotel stays. There are also non-gaming rewards like gift cards and travel bonuses available in the program.

Ohioans interested in BetMGM shouldn’t have to wait long to start enjoying some benefits. In fact, BetMGM is offering immediate perks that bettors can enjoy right away on New Year’s Day.

BetMGM offering pre-registration bonus for Ohioans

BetMGM is welcoming Ohioans to download its Android or iOS app and complete their account registrations now. The online sportsbook will not start taking bets until Jan. 1 at the earliest, but app users can get ready to place those wagers now.

For those who take advantage of this early registration window, BetMGM is offering $200 in bonus bets. When the sportsbook gets final clearance to actually commence full operations, users can use those bonus bets at their discretion.

BetMGM offers a wide array of events to wager upon and many different ways to bet them, including player props and in-game markets. If the Ohio State Buckeyes reach the College Football Playoff Final or either Ohio NFL team qualifies for the playoffs, BetMGM should be ready to go in time for those dates.

BetMGM has joined other sportsbooks like Caesars and FanDuel which are also currently accepting account registrations in Ohio. Bettors who take advantage of all these early registration offers should have plenty of choices to start 2023.
